關於醫生的英文詞彙

Doctor 泛指各科醫生，即一切有行醫資格的人。如Go for a doctor（去請醫生）。

Physician 主要是指內科醫生，如The physician’s nightly rounds.（醫生每夜的巡視）。

Resident Physician 內科住院醫師

Attending Physician 內科主治醫師

Surgeon 主要是指外科醫生，如The surgeon performed the operation.（醫師做了手術）。

Surgical Resident 外科住院醫師

Attending Surgeon 外科主治醫師

Orthopedist 骨科醫師

Attending Orthopedic Surgeon 骨科主治醫師

Dentist 牙醫，如B.D.S. Bachelor of Dental Surgery（牙醫學士），M.D.S. Master of Dental Surgery（牙醫碩士）。

在美國、日本等國家，牙醫一般被稱為Dentist，而不是Doctor，如日本的公立醫院一般沒有牙科，看牙需要到私人牙醫診所。
